2011 Transplant Year in Review – Centerfold

I have some cool news to report. I was featured in The Methodist Hospital Transplant Center 2011 Year in Review publication. They interviewed me back in August and photographed me in November. It was just printed last week and I received a few copies while I was a patient. The Methodist Hospital performed 418 transplants last year but only eight transplant recipients are featured in the publication. I was the featured recipient for the multi-organ transplant section. There were 32 multi-organ transplants last year. I was the ONLY lungs – liver transplant @ Methodist in 2011. I have included a pie chart that lists all the multi-organ transplants. It’s a huge honor and I’m very proud and grateful to be featured. It wouldn’t have been possible without my giving donor and his family. I’m so thankful for the gift I received. I wish my donor’s family could see me in the publication. My parents are also extremely proud of my selection.

I was discharged from the hospital Monday. The cellulitis is gone. The IV antibiotics seemed to do the trick. I was feeling pretty good until today when I was extremely nauseous. I believe it’s the side effects of the meds. Hopefully it will be gone by tomorrow. Jeannine flies in tomorrow. I can’t wait. I’m looking forward to showing her around Plano and introducing her to my friends. Thank you God for all my blessings. Things are wonderful in spite of the recent bumps in the road.

About Gary Robertson
